Our Piaya Journey

Introducing the Founder

In 2008, Leony Tabasin, my mother, took a loan of 5,000 pesos from a microfinance to start a Piaya-making business at the age of 46.

She learned the recipe while working at a delicacies store in her teenage years and realized people loved the taste of her Piaya. With the help of our father, who quit his job to assist her, she named the business 3R's Piaya Haus after her children Ryan, Raniel, and Ryna Jean.

This business was an answered prayer for me because I had been praying for three years that my parents to have a stable source of income since my mother was a homemaker and my father was a construction laborer. The Lord was faithful in fulfilling my prayer.

In 2019, we registered the business under 3R's Food Products Manufacturing and branded it The Maker's Brand to honor God and acknowledge His involvement in our business.

Our Kimchi Journey

In June of 2021, we were blessed with a new product to offer: Korean Kimchi. The idea was sparked when my sister, Ryna Jean, had a craving for Kimchi and asked me to make it instead of buying it. I then delved into research on how to make it and our first batch of Kimchi was born, which is now available for sale.

For those with seafood allergies, our product now comes in a new flavor option: Green without salted shrimp, providing even greater variety for our customers.

Although my nephew asked for a non-spicy Blue Kimchi, I prepared a milder version in response to his request.

I decided to improve my product labels and offer more options after discovering the existence of White Kimchi in Korea, leading me to introduce Kimchi White to my range.

Extra Hot Spicy Pink and Purple were created to satisfy customers who crave a spicier Kimchi.

During the Trade Exhibit in January 2023, I had the pleasure of meeting some young farmers who introduced me to The Carolina Reaper, which holds the title for being the world's hottest pepper according to the Guinness World Records. Intrigued by its heat, I decided to make a small batch of Kimchi using it and conducted taste tests which received positive feedback.

Encouraged by the response, I decided to introduce it as a new variant called the Exceptionally Hot Spicy Black Kimchi, which is now available for sale.
